Amazed

Chapter 1

I came home and found my husband kissing another woman on our couch—and after he slapped me twice for confronting him, he learned why I had spent twelve years quietly training in martial arts.

My name is Sarah Mitchell, and I lived with my husband, Jason, outside Dallas.

That afternoon, I came home early because a meeting had been canceled.

Jason’s car was in the driveway.

So was one I didn’t recognize.

I opened the front door quietly.

Then I heard a woman laughing.

When I walked into the living room, Jason was kissing a blonde woman on our couch.

Neither of them jumped apart.

Jason actually smiled.

“Well,” he said, “I guess you finally found out.”

My stomach dropped.

“Who is she?”

The woman crossed her legs.

Jason shrugged.

“Someone who doesn’t make every day miserable.”

I stared at him.

“You’re cheating on me in our house?”

“Our house?”

He laughed.

“Sarah, without me, you’d have nothing.”

I turned toward the woman.

“You should leave.”

Jason immediately stepped between us.

“Don’t tell her what to do.”

“Then both of you leave.”

His expression changed.

He walked toward me.

“You’re getting brave.”

Then he slapped me.

The room went silent.

I touched my cheek and looked directly at him.

“Do that again, and you’re going to regret it.”

The woman laughed.

Jason did too.

“You’re threatening me now?”

“I’m warning you.”

He stepped closer.

Then he slapped me a second time.

That was the moment something inside me became completely calm.

Jason knew I went to a gym.

What he didn’t know was that I had trained in martial arts for twelve years before we ever met.

When he reached for me again, I moved.

I caught his arm, turned with his momentum, and put him on the floor before he understood what had happened.

He stared up at me in shock.

“What the hell?”

“Stay down.”

His mistress stopped smiling.

Jason tried to rise.

I controlled his wrist and forced him back without striking him.

“You’ve had two warnings.”

Then the woman suddenly grabbed her purse.

I thought she was leaving.

Instead, a thick envelope fell onto the floor.

My name was written across the front.

I picked it up.

Jason’s face changed instantly.

“Sarah, don’t open that.”

Inside were copies of bank transfers, property documents, and a signed agreement involving our house.

Then I saw the woman’s real name.

She wasn’t just Jason’s mistress.

She was the attorney helping him secretly move everything we owned before he filed for divorce.

And the final document showed they had planned to do it that very morning.
